When it comes to putting mini blinds on your kitchen windows there are a few things to keep in mind in order to get the proper fit. If you have ill fitting blinds then they will not look as nice as you want or do the job that they were intended to do
The first step to installing your kitchen window mini-blinds is to determine the position of the blinds. Will they be inside the window or outside the window? Mounting on the inside usually looks more customized and can be nicer to look at. Outside mounting may not look as customized but it will allow better control of lighting with your blinds.
If you are mounting inside then you need to measure the space between where the brackets will be placed. This includes the width of top, middle, and bottom measurements. Write down the narrowest measurement that you get. Second you measure the length of the window from the top inside casing of the windowsill. Keep in mind that you must have at least one inch of surface space to attach the brackets, make sure that you have enough surface space or inside mounting simply won’t work.
With outside mounting you need to measure the width of the area you want covered. The way to get the best coverage of the window is to measure at least an inch and a half wider than the actual window on all sides. This way you can be sure that the entire window will be covered.
Now that you have measured and determined whether you want inside or outside mounting, its time to install your kitchen window blinds. Remove the window stop at the top of the window on the casing. Use the brackets that came with your blinds and screw them into place on the side window casing at the top. There should be at least two or three screws per bracket and always use them all for the most secure fit.
Make sure that you hold your blinds with the wand on the left and the pull cord on the right and then slide the blinds into the bracket you just put into place. When you are happy with their positioning then put the caps in place over the brackets. If you have measured properly then they should fit your window perfectly. If they are too long then you can easily remove slats from the bottom until they are the correct length. Mini Blinds are among the least expensive kitchen window treatments, but can have a big impact on teh look and feel of your kitchen.
